New Hope

After running around all day, the clouds finally cleared, the sun came out and we took a trip down to New Hope.

The drive to New Hope is along the prettiest, most peaceful waterfront road.  The houses along the road are gorgeous.  New Hope is the cutest, small town whose main street is lined with shops and restaurants.  Its the kind of place you go to, to stroll, window shop and have some awesome food.

Since we were hungry by the time we got to New Hope, we drove through the town and decided on dinner at the Triumph Brewery.

We got a table outdoors overlooking an old railroad and train cars. I started my dinner with a beer, the Kinder Pils which was quite good. It was one of their lighter beers and seeing how I am a total lightweight when it comes to alcohol since having munchkin, I enjoyed not being tipsy after one beer.

We ordered calamari and banana guacamole as appetizers and they were both amazing.  The sauces that came with the calamari were delicious and it was super crispy.  The banana guacamole I was a bit iffy about, but it was amazing.  I’m pretty sure it was just banana and avocado mixed together, but the salty plantain chips and the sweetness of the guac were perfect together.

I orded an Almond Chicken salad as my entree and it was really good.  The chicken was crusted in almond, which I only realized after about eating half of it and wondering where the almonds were.

Tommy had a pulled pork sandwich which was also really yummy.  The pulled pork was covered in IPA BBQ sauce, which is BBQ sauce made with beer, and jalapeno relish.

After dinner, we decided that we still had room for dessert, so we went for a walk around New Hope to find some ice cream.  We hit the ice cream jackpot when we found Gernser’s Ice Cream.

They had a ton of different flavors of handmade ice cream.

I got a single scoop of Vanilla Birthday Cake on a sugar cone.  Yes, that is considered one scoop. It was one of the best ice cream flavors I’ve ever tried.  It was a little on the sweet side, but delicious none the less.  Tommy got an cookie dough milkshake which was really good, too.

Since it was getting closer and closer to munchkin’s bedtime, we headed home.

There were some super scary thunderstorms at night.  At one point, the whole house shook when lightening struck somewhere nearby.  But luckily, the rain had stopped and we get to have some more adventures today.  Happy Friday everyone!
