If you’re like me, during finals week you keep your focus on studying, and sometimes let other things slip. My house is a mess, my fridge is practically empty and I haven’t cooked myself a real meal since last week.
That being said, its no surprise that my dinners over the past two weeks that have been looking like this a little too often.
I do enjoy my pizza and wings, but one thing I did to even out my over indulgences was try to eat lots of fresh veggies, mostly in the form of salads. Salads are one of my favorite things to eat, because you can throw together practically anything from your fridge, top it with some dressing and you have a meal in a bowl.
Thanks to the Clever Girls Collective and Marzetti, I was able to try out some great new dressings, which came in very handy during every student’s busiest time of year.
Since I was having trouble deciding which dressing to purchase, I made my life easier and purchased the two that jumped out at me as soon as I walked over to the refrigerated dressing case in my supermarket. With dressings like Champagne and Sesame Ginger, who wouldn’t want to eat their veggies?
If you’re wondering why these bad boys are located in the refrigerated section of the supermarket, it’s because they have no preservatives like regular dressings do, so to make sure they are fresh and yummy, they have to be refrigerated. It’s also nice to see a product whose ingredient list doesn’t look like some kind of chemistry experiment. Most of their flavors are also gluten free, which is nice for all the g-free people out there.
As soon as I got home, I had to try the Champagne dressing. I’m a huge fan of the bubbly beverage, and if you find a student who doesn’t think of turning to alcohol during finals week, you’ve found a liar. While the dressing doesn’t contain any alcohol (DARN!) it does have champagne and white white vinegars, which is where it gets it’s name from. The best way for me to describe it’s flavor would be sweet, a little salty and very tangy, then again I’m not that great at describing flavors with words other than GOOD! And believe me this one is definitely good.
A few days later, it was time to try out the Ginger Sesame Dressing. I am a huuuge fan of the ginger dressing that Japanese restaurants give on their house salads, and this dressing really reminded me of that. While it isn’t as thick as the kind that Japanese restaurants serve,
it was just as yummy.I did take a picture of my salad topped with the dressing, and it was really good because it had chicken in it, but somehow the picture disappeared off of my highly sophisticated camera iPhone, and I think a very cute little man has something to do with it.
Marzetti also has a bunch of other great flavors that I would like to try in the near future. Some of them are your standard dressings, like Caesar, Ranch, Blue Cheese and Balsamic, but they also have some other eye-catching flavors that I’ve never seen from another brand, like Greek Feta and Pomegranate. Now, if only they could make a hot wing or pizza favored dressing, I’d be golden!
What’s your favorite salad dressing? Do you pay attention to labels and check out a product’s ingredients?
I was one of the bloggers selected by T. Marzetti Company and Clever Girls Collective to host a Marzetti Simply Dressed review. They provided me with product to test myself and compensation for my time. However, my opinions are entirely my own and my taste buds don’t lie!
