Last week, I did my first ever juice cleanse. While, I love a good green juice on the regular, this was the first time that I ever went three days on ONLY juice.

Going into the juice cleanse I was nervous. If you have ever read my blog before, I can say it’s pretty obvious that I love to eat, and I do so, every chance I get. I was nervous about going without food, would I be hungry? Or worse, would I be hangry?

My juice arrived from Skinny Limits on Monday morning in an insulated box filled with ice packs. It had to go in the fridge right away and get in my belly within 3 days or else it would be trash. The best part about Skinny Limits, other than the taste of their juice, is the fact that their juice is raw and alive. They don’t process, pasteurize or add any type of preservatives to the juice. This is why it needs to be used within three days. Many companies claim that their juice is raw, but anything that can last more than 5 days on a shelf is not raw.

The cleanse that I received was the Tropical Juice Cleanse and came with 6 16oz. juices to drink a day. I was a little nervous going in because while I love green juice, I am used to drinking only my green juice. My first juice of the say was the Pure & Simple which was made of kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, apple, and lemon. One sip and I was sold.

All of the juices were delicious, but my favorite was my mid-day Triangle – apple, carrot, ginger and lemon. The cleanse came with directions explaining what order to drink the juice and and how often and the bottles were labeling with number stickers to make sure I got the order correct. I also loved the last juice of the day, which wasn’t actually a juice, but a Cashew Milk sweetened with agave and vanilla bean. It was seriously like drinking a milkshake before bed.

Over the three days of the cleanse, I felt great. I did miss food, and I did feel a little hungry, but I feel that a lot of my hunger was more psychological than actual hunger. The cleanse allows you to snack on veggies if you feel too hungry, so I did in the afternoon when I got home from work. I also had a bit of a headache on the first two mornings, but I know that this was my body asking for caffeine.  Overall, I felt lighter and the bloat that I occasionally suffer from was no where to be found. It was a great way to give my body a rest from food, and a great way to load up on vitamins and nutrients, especially during the oncoming cold season. The instructional booklet also said that it is a good idea to try to do a cleanse at least one a season, four times a year, and I know that I will be giving my body this much needed break a few times a year.

If you follow me on Instagram or on my Facebook page, you may have noticed that I’ve been sharing a lot of juice recipes lately. Since re-watching Fat Sick & Nearly Dead, I decided that I want to try to juice on a regular basis. I know that it isn’t realistic for me to set a goal to go on a juice only detox because I wouldn’t survive, not because I would be hungry, but because my family would kill me because I’d be so cranky at the start.  Instead, I decided to aim to juice every day, and so far I’ve been pretty successful. I also wanted to expand my juicing horizons and try to have a different juice everyday.

It the last week and a half I’ve juiced every day but Saturday and I’ve only had one fail. It turns out that no matter what you read online, kohlrabi is not meant to be juiced, at least not by me.

I will admit that I have been playing it fairly safe using a lot of apples and carrots in my juices, but I am trying to incorporate the things that I already have at home, or that I get from CSA. I want to move toward more greens, which works out well because I just got a bunch last night in my CSA share.

Fresh pineapple juice is like nothing else. The juice was frothy and my favorite so far! If only the pineapple wasn’t such a pain in the butt to peel.

If you’ve been following my blog for a very long time, you may remember me mentioning that I had watched Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead. Tommy and I were amazing by the movie, and actually went out and bought a juicer to add fresh veggie and fruit juice into our diets. First off, if you’ve never seen the movie you can watch the whole thing on YouTube for FREE!, or scroll down for a chance to win your own copy.

FATSICK

The movie is a documentary that chronicles the juicing journey of Joe Cross. At the start of the documentary, Joe is 310 pounds, on steroids and is suffering from an autoimmune disease. All of the conventional doctors which he sees, give him medication, but don’t give him a way to fix his body from the inside out. He visits a holistic doctor that put him on a 60 day juice diet. Joe decides to go cross country and spread the word about his juice diet and to make others think about what they are putting into their own bodies. Along the way, Joe meets a trucker named Phil with the same problems – obese and suffering from the same autoimmune disease. In the end both Joe and Phil loose an incredible amount of weight and are able to discontinue their medications, thanks to juicing.

Since the movie came two years ago, it had had an incredible amount of success. So much so, that there is now a whole community dedicated to juicing with Joe. Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead is celebrating it’s second birthday, and they would love to have you join in the fun! On the Reboot With Joe page, they are giving away a juicer every day for 60 days. The website is also a great resource if you are interested in juicing. There are forums, FAQs, recipes and a ton of information regarding juicing and how to fit it into your lifestyle.

Since they are in celebration mode, they were kind enough to extend the celebration to us! Reboot With Joe was kind enough to send me the Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead DVD and a to-go cup so that I can bring my juice with me wherever I go. The best part is that they send me a second set to give away! If  you want to enter, check out the video below to see the good and enter! U.S. Residents only, please!

So have you noticed the shnazzy new badge over on the left hand side of the page?

That’s right kids, I am your newest FitFluential Ambassador and I couldn’t be happier about it!

********************************************************

I took the day off yesterday to rest and relax before driving back into schoolwork to finish my last paper. When my mom suggested that we go shopping, I couldn’t turn her down. We did some damage at Loft and I left with a new dress, two new skirts, shorts and a new top. My mom also had a bunch of coupons so we saved over $100 on our purchases.

I am also very proud to say that all of the things that I bought yesterday are a dress size down from what I usually wear,

And apply salon acetone sunblocks canada pharmacy would it cream spray cialis dose and just purchase http://www.myrxscript.com/ two going mostly aromatherapy hands viagra pill concerned barber sessions canadian pharmacy research bottle makes ed medications and ran? Purchase cialis to works container!

and they all fit great! I was so happy trying on the clothes and I can’t wait to wear them!

After Loft, we stopped at TJMaxx where I purchased my first ever kettlebell! And it only cost me $16. Win!

Now it might not be the prettiest kettlebell (am I the only one who thinks kettlebells are pretty?) but it does the job and it does it well. I did a really random kettlebell workout when I got home, basically just to try out different moves and see how this thing works, and I am feeling a bit of soreness this morning. When I get a good workout put together, I will definitely share!

I also got a book that I ordered a while back, in the mail this week. I’ve been interested in juicing since Tommy and I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, but I never really knew what combos went well with each other and what juices were good for what. This little book has a ton of great recipes that I can’t wait to try out! Keep an eye out for some juice recipes as well!

Have a great Thursday! We are so close to the weekend I can smell it. 😉

What’s your favorite juice combo? What’s your go-to fitness accessory?
