In my phone, I have a running list of things that I love and want to share, but lately I haven’t been so good with sharing. I thought it would be fun to start doing an old school blog feature – a Friday Five. Five things that I’ve been really enjoying lately and I think are worth a recommendation.

Megababe Geo Deo: If you have been looking for a good, natural deodorant, look no further. I have tried them all, from drugstore to higher end (cough cough Beautycounter $31 deodorant cough cough) and this one is hands down the best EVER. It was in the 90s this week and I was dry and fresh.  I am on my second stick and I’ve never had the nasty rash that comes with lots of other natural deodorants that have baking soda. I don’t know how they did it, but this stuff is the bomb.

Old Navy Sunday Sleep PJs: I’m usually not a matching PJ type of girl, but I have fallen in love with these from Old Navy. They come in a ton of cute patterns, are super soft and make the best work from home bottoms. I’ve only gotten the shorts version so far, but they do have a variety of cuts including joggers and long sleeve tops. Old Navy pro tip: wait for a sale to buy. They literally have sales multiple times a week, so you won’t have to wait long.

FURemover Compact Broom: If you have pets that shed, you need this broom. I’ve had tons of traditional brooms that just send the dog hair into the air and never clean it up. This one collects the hair into a giant pile super easily allowing you so much time to stare and wonder how a small dog could produce so much fur.

Birkenstock Big Buckle: I have been a Birkenstock fan for years and I think you either love them or hate them. They are super comfortable, took zero time to break in and are so cute with the big gold buckles. I know I will have these for years because even though the price is steep, Birkenstocks last forever!

Sol de Janiero Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 68 Beija Flor Perfume Mist: This was an unexpected purchase but I am obsessed with. I was at Kohl’s with Alex looking for a polo for his spring concert when we discovered Kohl’s now has Sephora inside! We browsed some of the aisles and I sprayed this since I had never seen it before, and I knew I had to have it. When your 12 year old says you need to buy it, you know it’s a good find. According to the package, it has notes of pink dragonfruit, lychee, Brazilian jasmine, ocean air and hibiscus, but to my untrained nose it smells amazing and is the perfect sweet, summer fragrance.

If you do a quick google search, there are tons of stories about how millennials treat their pets like their children. To be honest, before adopting Zoey, I didn’t really get it. Now that she has been part of our family for almost two years, all I can say, is how can you not treat your pet like your baby?!

Zoey’s little wagging tail greets me every morning, whenever I come back home and any time I pull out a bag of our favorite Old Mother Hubbard treats. Old Mother Hubbard treats are a staple in our home. We use them to brush up on Zoey’s tricks and training and any time we want to give her a yummy reward for being so cute! Even though she’s the one getting the treat, it makes me so happy to see how excited she gets for these little biscuits.

During the winter, it can be tough to make sure that your furry friend is getting enough exercise due to the cold weather. During the last snow storm, we came up with a fun game for Zoey that helps her get her exercise while enjoying her favorite treats. After bundling up, I grab a handful of Zoey’s favorite P-Nuttier biscuits and head outside with her.

Once she smells the treat in my hand, I toss it into the snow and give her and her nose a workout. It is so fun to see her barrel through the snow to find the treats and her little snow covered face is a sight to see! We do this until we get too cold, run out of treats or both. Afterwards, we all pile on the couch in front of the fireplace to warm up, with hot cocoa for us and more biscuits for Zoey.

Just like choosing food for my family, making sure that Zoey’s treats are all natural is important. I know that Old Mother Hubbard treats have been around since 1926 and are made with good, wholesome ingredients (that I can actually pronounce!). Stocking up on Old Mother Hubbard Treats is a must on every Target trip. We make sure to never be without the Classic P-Nuttier flavor that Zoey loves because her wagging tail when she sees her favorite biscuits, makes us all so happy. Dog parenting win-win!

Be sure to pick up some Old Mother Hubbard treats for your pup on your next Target run, or click to add them to your cart!

Happy treating!

During the summer months, everyone loves a cold treat, even our four legged friends! While there are tons of places that you can get your doggy friend a pup cup, often these ice creams are full of stuff that’s not so great for their little tummies. Luckily, it is super easy to make dog safe frozen treats, or what we call pupsicles at our house, with things you probably already have in your pantry! I like to top Zoey’s pupsicles with her favorite dog biscuit, Old Mother Hubbard’s, to make them an extra special treat.

To say that our dog Zoey is spoiled is an understatement, but in my defense, how can you not spoil a little face like this one! These pupsicles are Zoey’s absolute favorite summer treat, and while she isn’t picky, I am. I try to be mindful of what we feed her, including her treats – that’s why I love Old Mother Hubbard’s biscuits. They are a treat that I can feel good about giving to her because they are made with all-natural ingredients, slow baked to preserve the natural flavors that dogs love, and they’ve been around since 1926, so you know they have to be good! Head to Walmart to pick up Old Mother Hubbard’s biscuits for your four legged friend! While Zoey loves these biscuits plain, they are even better when added into pupsicles!

Zoey’s pupsicles are super easy to make and are full of good for dog ingredients, so you can feel good spoiling your pup. They are made with Greek yogurt, bananas, peanut butter, honey and Zoey’s favorite dog biscuits, Old Mother Hubbard’s P-Nuttier N’ Nanners.  They come together in a snap, and when they are fully frozen, I store them in a freezer bag to maximize freezer space.

Pupsicles – Popsicles for Dogs

  • 1 large ripe banana (mashed)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 12 Old Mother Hubbard’s P-Nuttier N’ Nanners biscuits<br />
  1. In a large bowl, combine banana, peanut butter, honey and green yogurt. Mix until smooth.

  2. Spoon mixture into your silicone molds and top each pupsicle with an Old Mother Hubbard’s biscuit.

  3. Freeze for at least two hours, or until frozen solid.

Once your pupsicles are frozen, get ready to spoil your pup! Full disclosure, these do melt quickly and can get messy if you hold them in your hands. I recommend putting them into your dog’s bowl, instead of holding them like Alex did, but it is so fun to get all the messy puppy kisses while you hold the treats too!

If you make these pupsicles for your dog, share them on Instagram and don’t forget to tag me!

Call me a crazy dog lady if you must, but we threw Zoey a little first birthday party complete with decorations, party hats and pupcakes! If I’m going to be honest, she hated the hat, but she loved the pupcakes, so overall I would call it a success. I can’t believe that we have been dog owners for almost a year, and I can’t believe how quickly a little animal can turn into a real family member.

We knew we wanted to make Zoey a special birthday treat. I looked up some recipes online that seemed complicated and kind of gross (like potato frosting) so I ended up coming up with one on my own. This recipe come together super quick and is guaranteed to make your puppy happy! It is made with ingredients that are safe and yummy for your puppy, but as with all treats, observe them when you give it to them for the first time. This recipe is also safe for humans to eat, but honestly it doesn’t taste all that great to me.

Pupcakes

Dog Cupcakes

  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/8 cup coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/6 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Frosting

  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together wet ingredients.

  3. Mix in flour and baking soda.

  4. Stir in shredded carrots.

  5. Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Cool completely before frosting.

Frosting

  1. Combine peanut butter and cream cheese in a large bowl.

  2. Cream together until fluffy.

  3. Frost pupcakes and top with a dog biscuit.

This recipe makes six regular sized cupcakes, so I recommend cutting them into smaller portions depending on the size of your dog before serving. You could also make the recipe into mini cupcakes or a full cake, just be sure to adjust your baking time accordingly.

If you make these pupcakes for your furry friends, be sure to share on Instagram and tag me! I love to see happy puppies!

Before getting Zoey, I would have thought that a gift guide for dog lovers was silly. Since becoming a dog mom, I would love to get any one of the things on this list and I bet the dog lovers in your life would too!

Custom Phone Case // Your dog on your phone case. Need I say more?

Custom Socks // Your dog on your socks. Need I say more, again? 😉

Cheese Knives // Because cute dog knives make a charcuterie board even better – if that’s possible!

Dog Cook Book // Zoey loves when I cook her special meals to add to her kibble. This is a whole book of meal ideas for your pup!

Cute Crate // Every dog needs their safe space, but wire crates don’t exactly enhance the decor of your home. This one is adorable and comes in different colors.

Furbo // This is on my Christmas list! I would love to be able to check in on Zoey when we aren’t home and this camera and dispenses treats which is such a cute idea!

Poop Bag Holder // A good poop bag holder is a must. This one is sturdy and super cute!

Dog Bed // We have this dog bed for Zoey and it is the best. We bought a cheap one from TJ Maxx when we got her and she destroyed it in no time. When it comes to dog beds, you get what you pay for and this one is worth it!

Dog Jacket // Its cold and every puppy needs a cute jacket. The buffalo plaid makes it that much cuter!

Dog Mom Tee // I think this one is a must for every dog mom!

Phone Case // Who doesn’t love puppies on their phone case!

Frenchie Mug // Anthropologie makes the best mugs and this Frenchie one is no exception!

Custom Dog Mug //  Your dog’s smiling face while your drink your morning coffee. Win-win!

Becoming a pet parent definitely comes with a learning curve. When we first got Zoey, we picked up some puppy essentials at the pet store without giving it much thought. Fast forward a few weeks, and we had basket of destroyed toys and a dog bed with fluff falling out and a puppy who was way too eager to make sure that said fluff made it into every corner of every room. We quickly learned that we needed to get some better quality items for her and had to make sure that they fit into the decor of our home because they were going to be there for a while.

When I started looking into dog beds, the La-Z Boy dog beds caught my eye right away. La-Z Boy products are known for their comfort and durability (Tommy wants a recliner for his man cave so bad!) and the design of their pet beds doesn’t scream dog and compliments our living room perfectly. We worked really hard to renovate and decorate our home and we don’t want it to look like a pet store.

Zoey’s favorite sleeping position is the sprawl, so we decided on a Rosie Lounger for her. She is a play hard, sleep hard kind of puppy. She was recently given the title of the fastest dog at our local dog park and even though she’s still little, she can keep up with the best of them. This also means that when we get home she needs to get her rest. Just like humans, dogs need proper rest to stay healthy, so daily naps are important. Having a safe, comfortable bed ensures that she gets the rest she needs to grow into a strong, healthy dog.

la-z boy dog bedSince we do spend a lot of time outdoors burning off that puppy energy, it was also very important to me to have a bed that can be easily washed. Dog smell is real and I couldn’t tell you how many times Zoey has made a beeline from the door to her bed while covered in dirt and grass. Since the La-Z Boy dog bed cover slips right off, it is super easy to throw into the wash and it comes out looking and smelling like new.la-z boy dog bed

Life with a puppy takes some adjustment, but it is totally worth it! Zoey has taught Alex so much about responsibility (he wakes up to walk her at 6 am!) and the love a dog can give you in incredible. Keeping our furry friends happy and healthy is important and La-Z Boy dog beds make sure they get the proper sleep they need without making our home look like a pet shop.

Do you have any pets?
