Despite my best efforts, I am a hot mess in the mornings. I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be one of those people who wakes up at 5 AM to be productive, and that in reality I am lucky if I can make it out the door at 7 AM without forgetting something (like my dang coffee on the counter at least once a week!). I used to think that when I became a mom, things would magically fall into place and I would have my stuff together and well, that just didn’t happen. If anything it got worse because now instead of just getting myself out the door, I had to ensure that another little human was dressed, fed and ready to go. Since waking up at 5 AM still isn’t an option for me, I found some other life hacks to help me get it all done and out the door in the mornings.

  1. Don’t look at your phone. Social media is a huge time suck. Don’t get me wrong I love scrolling through my feeds but when I have a limited amount of time, I just avoid otherwise 10 minutes flies by and I am still laying in bed instead of being out of the shower already.
  2. Pick clothes the night before. Up until this year, Alex wore a uniform to school so I only really had to think about what I had to wear. Now that I need to pick two outfits for each day, it is much easier to pick it out the night before. I lay his outfit out on his dresser and he knows that when I wake him up, he needs to get dressed and washed up without me telling him. Also, in the process of our move I donated at least 10 bags of clothing between the three of us and I can say that this has made it that much easier when looking for outfits. Before my closet was packed with clothes that didn’t fit, I didn’t wear, or that I was saving for just in case. Now that I’ve streamlined our wardrobes, it is just much simpler and neater.
  3. Make your breakfast the night before. There is nothing worse than trying to cook when you are multi-tasking, that is why smoothies are a breakfast favorite at our house. Smoothies can be time consuming, but my biggest tip is to put everything together the night before and just blend them up quickly in the morning. A few months ago, I shared my favorite smoothie bowls that I make with my Vitamix E310 Explorian Series Blender. I am just as obsessed with this blender as I was on day one, and its powerful motor can handle even the toughest ingredients to create the smoothest smoothies. I was recently sent the Vitamix Personal Cup Adapter from Mom’s Meet and it has made our mornings even easier. I pack all our smoothie ingredients into each personal cup at night. In the morning I just add a little bit of liquid and pop them into the adapter for literally a minute to make our smoothie. The personal cups make clean up even easier because there is no transferring the smoothie from the blender to our to-go cups and the personal cups are dishwasher safe and spill proof!
  4. Pack everything up and leave it by the door. Done are the days of searching for the missing shoe or the missing folder when we should’ve been on the road 10 minutes ago. Before bed, we make sure everything is packed up and waiting for us by the door so in the mornings we don’t even have to think about it.
  5. Set alarms for everything. We all set an alarm for the time we have to wake up, but setting an alarm for when you need to be out the door is so helpful. Working with young children, we always give warning before having to transition to a different task, but it is super effective for everyone. I have a 10 minutes to go time alarm and it really helps us realize that we need to hurry it up because we have to get out the door.

I hope that these tips help your mornings!

If you want to get your hands on my fav blender use promo code MMVITA2018 toSave 15% on the Personal Cup Adapter with the purchase of a Classic Series Vitamix blender. Offer ends December 31, 2018.

  1. Torrid Jeggings. I have been searching for the perfect affordable tall jeans and I have found them! These are the best jeans if you are tall and curvy. They come in tall and extra tall sizes and break in to be the softest and most comfortable pair of jeans that you have in your closet. While they are called jeggings, they are more of a denim material than a legging one and have a real zipper and buttons. They come in tons of colors, washes and styles and are just PERFECT!
  2. Beautycounter Nourishing Night Cream. I had heard all the hype surrounding the Beautycounter for Target collection and decided to give their night cream a try. I have been loyal to my First Aid Beauty cream for a long time, but I really liked this one for nighttime. It soaks into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave your face feeling greasy. I will definitely be repurchasing this one!
  3. Mrs. Meyer’s Apple Cider Multi-Surface Spray. Someone I follow on Snapchat shared this and said that it smells amazing and makes the whole house smell like fall. I bought one bottle to try it out and went back the next week and bought two more, the dish soap and the hand soap. If you are a fan of fall scents, you need this is your life. I use it daily to clean the kitchen counters and it makes the whole house smell amazing. It is limited edition for fall, so if you find it get it because it might not be there for long!
  4. Anastasia Contour Kit. I have the light to medium version of this palette. This kit comes with three bronzers and three highlighters and can be used to for simple every day looks and to really contour your face for special occasions. I use the banana powder on top of my under eye concealer and the the middle bronzer everyday. I really like that it gives you a good variety all in one little palette and it is super easy for travel.
  5. Young Living Oils Christmas Spirit. I know, you are probably thinking what my husband did when he saw me diffusing this oil – Christmas already?! But seriously, this oil is a blend of orange, cinnamon and spruce oils and just smells like fall to me. It is one of those scents that make you happy and make the whole house feel cozy.
  6. Fresh Wave Odor Removing Spray. I received this spray for review after attending Blogger Bash and it has been a go to at our house since the summer. We don’t use the fake smelling air fresheners that are full of weird chemicals that you don’t want to be inhaling in the first place. Fresh Wave is made from essential oils and just a few sprays kills any odors left behind from cooking or taking out some extra smelly trash. We also have the Odor Removing Packs that work great in Alex’s sports bags. No more sweaty smells!
  7. Kady Lace Up Flats. These are the cutest, most comfortable flats ever. I get tons of compliments every time I wear them and they go with everything from leggings, so jeans to dress pants. I have the brown ones, but they come in a bunch of different colors too!
  8. La Croix Sparkling Water. I drink seltzer like it’s going out of style and the grapefruit La Croix is the best flavor out there! I also like to call in pamplemousse (grapefruit in French) and feel fancy.

What are your recent obsessions?

The most wonderful thing about June being over is that I am done with work for the whoooooole summer! Even though I was patiently waiting for the month to end, I managed to find a few favorites along the way.

june favs

  1. Aviators. The ones pictured above are from Loft, but I have about 3 pairs of aviators that I regularly wear. I feel that look great on my face and I love the different colored mirrored look.
  2. Pineapple Corer. If you like to eat fresh pineapple and do not own this contraption, run to the store now. I used to buy pineapples and they would go bad because I hated peeling and coring them. This thing literally takes 2 minutes and you have perfectly sliced pineapple rings. It is worth every penny!
  3. Health Ade Kombucha. I love kombucha, but Heath-Ade is my fav. They have a ton of delicious flavors (pink lady apple and California grape are my favs) and their bottles are so stinking cute. The best part is that no one else at home like these, so when I put them in the fridge, I can be sure they will be there when I go back to drink one. Mommy success!
  4. Orange is the New Black. I was obsessed with the first season of the show, but wasn’t too impressed by Season 2. The show has redeemed itself in Season 3 and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next season. Seriously, go watch it because so much has changed since Season 2!
  5. Sandals. The weather is finally nice enough to live in sandals. These two pairs are my current favs and you can find them at Target and American Eagle.
  6. Long necklaces. The one pictured is the necklace I received for Valentine’s Day from my guys, but I have 4 different long necklaces in rotation that I have been loving! I love the way they dress up basic solid tops and can really bring a plain outfit up a notch.
  7. OXO Cold Brew Coffee Maker. This is a life changing machine. If you are a fan of cold brew and have tried to make it at home, you know that it can be a bit of a pain in the butt. With this, you pour in your coffee and water, let it stand and then in drains the cold brew through the bottom while the grounds stay on top.

Happy April! Time is flying by so quickly. Even though it may not feel like Spring in NYC (it’s going to be in the 20s tonight!!), hopefully the warm weather and sunshine will be returning soon! march favs

My list of March favorites is a bit random, but they are all things that I have been obsessed with all month.

  1. Conair Curl Secret. I have been wanting to try one of these for a looong time and it just so happened that it was on sale, I had a gift card and ended up only paying $16 out of pocket for it. That being said it is worth every penny of its retail price because it gives me the nicest curls that last forever. I can curl my hair one day, not put in any product and still have waves in it for the next day, which is unheard of with my pin straight hair.
  2. Young Living Oils Citrus Fresh. If you want your house to smell like you just cleaned for hours, diffuse Citrus Fresh. It is a blend of orange, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, and mandarin oils with a hint of spearmint and it makes everything smell fresh and clean and it just makes you smile when you walk into the room.
  3. FitBit Blaze. This is kind of a cheat March favorite because I only got my FitBit during the last week of March. But that being said, it has not left my wrist for more than the time that it needs to charge since it arrived and I am obsessed with it and with meeting my goals, each and every single day. I’m going strong so far!
  4. Aladdin Milk Bottle. I bought this bottle with thoughts of it being my take along water bottle, but since it does not fit into the cup holders in my car (total bummer) it has become my at home bottle. It is a 30 oz bottle and I try to drink at least 3 of these bad boys each day on top of the water I drink at work from a smaller, cup holder friendly bottle.
  5. Black & White Sneakers. The Adidas pair shown above were a find at Century 21 for under $40, but I also have another pair of black and white Nike Theas that I am obsessed with. Other than work and more formal events, you can find me rocking one of these pairs of sneakers every day. As someone who has not worn a pair of sneakers with a casual, non-workout outfit in years, this is a big change for me and I am loving it!
  6. Smith’s Minted Rose Lip Balm. After battling a nasty cold in March, I had chapped lips that I could not get rid of. I used this lip balm religiously for a few days and I was chapped no more. I love the cooling effect it has on your lips.
  7. Cracklin’ Chicken. This is not something I can add to my little collage, but Nom Nom Paleo’s Cracklin’ Chicken has become a staple in our  dinnertime rotation. It is super easy to make aside from the splatter, but tastes so amazingly, flippin good. Seriously, try it. You will love this!
