Another month, another Bestowed box filled with some delicious treats!

When this box arrived, I noticed it was a lot heavier than last month’s, so I wasted no time tearing into it to see what was inside.

This month’s box contained:

  1. Zico Chocolate Coconut Water. This was the culprit making the box heavy. I’m not usually a fan of flavored coconut waters, so I was a little nervous to try it, but I liked it. It tastes like a thinner version of chocolate milk and Alex really liked it too. This is definitely something I can keep in the house to satisfy a sweet tooth or give to Alex instead of real chocolate milk, which packs a ton of sugar.
  2. Wild Garden Hummus Dip. The hummus was yummy, but what I loved best was the cool cone this came in. The cone makes it super portable and great to throw in your purse or a lunchbox for the kiddos.
  3. LifeIce. These were two trays of tiny little popsicles. When Alex heard the word popsicle, he immediately snatched the tray away, put them in the freezer and checked on them every 15 minutes  until they were ready. The best part is that each tray is only 30 calories and has no preservatives.
  4. Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers. These babies are made of quinoa, sesame seeds and amaranth and tasted awesome with the Hummus Dip.
  5. Chocolate Peanut Butter Quest Bar. I’m sure you’ve heard tons about these bars before. Long story short: 20 grams of protein + 17 grams of fiber + great taste = amazing combo.
  6. Salba Smart Chia Boost. These are great little packet of chia seeds. Perfect to take on the go to mix into yogurt or toss over a salad at lunch,
  7. Skratch Labs Exercise Hydration Mix. These little packets were made with athletes in mind. One tablespoon of the mix and 16 ounces of water replenishes the essential electrolytes that you loose during a workout. They are sweetened with freeze dried fruit, which is nice over added sugars.
  8. Eat Green Tea. These are edible green tea leaves and have 100 times more antioxidants than brewed green tea. These are supposed to be used like a spice and sprinkled onto food during cooking. I haven’t tried these yet, so I can’t attest to their taste, but the concept behind them is very interesting.
  9. Nektar Honey Crystals. These are granulated honey crystals and taste just like the real thing. I have been pouring these into my tea with some lemon, which is the perfect way to warm up on a chilly fall night.
  10. Perfect Fuel Chocolate. This is a dark chocolate and ginseng endurance snack. I haven’t tried this yet, but it is supposed to provide natural energy and vitality in an 80 calorie little bar.

Like always, the box was packed with some great products. If you want to try Bestowed for yourself use code HELLOTEN105 at checkout to get your box for only $10.

I don’t know if its just me, but this month flew by. October is non-GMO month, and to help celebrate and spread awareness about GMOs and what they do to our bodies, Bestowed put out an October non-GMO box.

bestowed nongmo box

GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organisms, animals and plants that have had their DNA modified for various purposes, such as to withstand pesticides and insects or for a longer shelf life. While these may sound like benefits, the truth is that we don’t really know what these modified organisms do to our bodies and what effects they will have on us long-term. Many European nations have blocked the use of GMOs in their food products and don’t even allow import of food made in the USA without proper labeling stating that the foods contain GMOs. The scariest part is that 80% of conventional foods in the US now contain GMOs.

Everything in the box was GMO free and as always, delicious. This month’s box included:

  • Enjoy Life Seed and Fruit Mix (I am currently obsessed with this! I already bought a full size.)
  • FiberLove Cinnamon Raisin Bar
  • The Good Bean Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpea Snacks
  • Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 70 Protein Supplement
  • Nature’s Path Love Crunch Dark Chocolate Macaroon Granola (Tastes amazing with Coconut Chobani!)
  • Ultima Replenisher
  • Way Better Snacks Simply Beyond Black Bean Tortilla Chips
  • *BONUS *- A one-year subscription to Women’s Health magazine!

The flyer had descriptions for all of the items in the box, and all the items are available for purchase in full size on the Bestowed website. The flyer also had some info about what GMOs are, what foods usually contain GMOs and how to avoid them.  If you want to learn more about GMOs, check out the Bestowed blog for lots of good info!

I wasn’t the only one who was very excited for this month’s non-GMO Bestowed box. A certain set of sticky fingers got into the box right away and staked their claim on the Unreal Peanut Butter Cups. Luckily, he is good at sharing.

If you want to try Bestowed for yourself, head over to their website. A single box is $19 and an annual subscription is $209 for 12 boxes. If you want to get your hands on the non-GMO box, click this link to get it for just $10!

Do you pay attention to GMOs in the foods you eat? Which of this month’s products would you like to try?

I’m a sucker for monthly subscription boxes. I love the excitement of getting a box in the mail and having no clue what’s inside. I love the anticipation that comes with checking out the new products I received to try out, and most of all, I love to eat good food. This is why I jumped at the opportunity to try one of the newest subscription boxes on the market – the Bestowed box.

bestowed

Bestowed is the creation of Heather Bauer, a nationally recognized nutrition expert, author, and entrepreneur. Each month she selects the products that Bestowed includes in each box, and you get 5+ healthy, new products to try out at your doorstep. I was excited to see that so many of my favorite brands had been included in past Bestowed boxes. I knew that I would be getting some good stuff, if their past boxes were an indication of what was in store for me.

In my box I received:

  • Oloves Hot Chilli Mama Olives
  • Nature’s Earthly Choice Easy Quinoa Lentil Soup Mix
  • Happy Family – Happy Squeeze Smoothies (which was promptly consumed by my little guy)
  • Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
  • Artisana Coconut Butter
  • Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars
  • $25 iTrain Gift Card

The box also came with a sheet describing the product and its benefits and two tips on how to use it. I found this handy for the hemp hearts, since they were something I never used to really heard of before.

Overall, I was very happy with what I received in my Bestowed box. All of the food items were great and I especially loved the Quinoa Lentil Soup. I ended up making it for dinner on an evening when I came home from work to an empty fridge. All I had to do was bring some water to a boil and a yummy, hearty and filling soup was ready for my belly.

Bestowed box retails for $19/month or for $209/year, but if you use code 5OFFBSTOWED01 you get $5 off your first month’s box!

The absolute best part is that Bestowed agreed to let one of my readers try one of their boxes for free! Just use the Rafflecopter below to enter. U.S. residents only, please!
