Five Things That Make Me Happy:

1. We are currently en route to the Finger Lakes for the weekend. If you’re unfamiliar with upstate New York, the Finger Lakes are around 5 hours from NYC (depending exactly where you stop) and have amazing waterfalls and amazing wine. We plan to spend the weekend celebrating my birthday, hiking and sipping on vino. What more could a girl ask for?

2. I am obsessed with the brand Yes To. I have been using their Yes to Tomatoes line and just got another shipment of product yesterday. I can’t wait to try all these goodies out!

3. I spent an hour last night labeling everything Munchkin needs for preschool. If you would’ve told me that I would be getting teary eyes while labeling Angry Birds underwear, I would’ve called you crazy, but it happened. His first day is on Monday and I’m pretty sure that I am more nervous than he is.

4. September is Yoga Month, and to celebrate Athleta has partnered with YogaGlo to offer free online yoga classes. If you go to www.Athleta.com/YogaMonth you can chose from three different levels of classes:

  • Level 1 class to kick start your day
  • Level 2 class for recovery after a busy day
  • Level 3 class designed as cross-training for athletes

They are also having some free in store classes, so check out www.Athleta.com/Stores to see if any are being held in your area!

5. My birthday is on Tuesday! Woohoo!

Have a great weekend!

Thank goodness it is Friday! I have been a busy bee all week – I had two essays and a presentation due at school and I was so stressed about having to present in front of the class, but luckily that’s all behind me now. Now let’s get down to business!

1. First of all, I forgot to announce the winner of my ENERGYbits giveaway! Woops!

The winner is lucky number 12 – Carrie from Aunt on the Run. Shoot me an email at frolicthroughlife at gmail dot com, so we can get your ENERGYbits out to you ASAP!

2. Munchkin went to the dentist this morning and I am happy to report that he is a member of the No Cavity Club.

We also went to the library and signed the little man up for his own library card. We got four books and a DVD to keep us occupied this weekend.

3. My stress at school led me to take part in a bit of retail therapy. I actually got a bunch of good deals that I just couldn’t pass up. clothes

I got TOMS for myself and Alex on Zulily. I got my first pair last summer and I fell in love. When I got the email that Zulily was having a TOMS sale, I couldn’t pass up the deal. I can’t wait until its warm so we can wear em. I got the pants, top and sports bra from Old Navy. I had $30 in rewards from my Gap Card combined with 20% off, so these items were a total steal. The mint green pants were only $8! The bag is form Target and its big enough to fit all my stuff for school, so its a winner in my book. I am loving the mint green trend for Spring.

4. I downloaded Intuitive Eating to my iPad. I heard about the concept of intuitive eating over a year ago, but the more I read about it online, the more interested I got. I thought it was time to read the book to see if it is something that might work for me. I’ve been struggling with emotional eating regardless of what diet I follow and I need to find a way to break free of this viscous cycle. Keep your fingers crossed that this book will be the start to a solution.

5. I did yet another FitnessGlo workout this morning – I focused on legs with Waist Down Strength. There’s also still time to enter my FitnessGlo giveaway! Check out my review of the FitnessGlo program and see if it’s something you would be interested in trying. Just a hint, you will probably be all over it because I love it!

I’m off to finish cleaning up the house. We are heading out for sushi for dinner tonight, and I am so excited because we haven’t been out for sushi in quite a while! Have a great weekend!

What’s the last thing you bought? What’s the last good book you read?

I feel a little scatterbrained today. Alex and I are having a pajama day, a.k.a it’s almost 2PM and we still aren’t dressed, but sometimes we need days like this. I’m using today to decompress so I can be a bit more productive this weekend and next week. I thought it would be fun to finish off the week with five thing that I have on my mind. A bit random and scatterbrained, but that’s usually how I feel on Fridays.

1. This week has felt almost never-ending. Between drama and work and catching up on homework, I am ready to see it go and enjoy the weekend. Tommy has Saturday off and I can’t wait to have a relaxing day with my two men!

weekend

2. Thank to FitnessGlo, I have been able to beat the not being able to get up in the morning to work out. thing I feel like knowing that I can chose a 10 minute quick workout makes it less daunting. Once it starts getting warmer, I am planning on spending my time in the mornings running. I am in the process of choosing a half marathon to run this fall. I’ve got it narrowed down to a few choices, but I need to thing about travel and logistics before finally signing up. It also hasn’t hit me yet that I am going to attempt to run a half this year. Nuts!

3. I went to the Fitfluential Tweet Up last night and had a great time. Every time I attend a blogger event it makes me so much happier that I have this little old blog and that I am able to meet amazing people who share the same passions, as I do.

4. I tried making coconut flour pancakes this morning and failed for the second time. Does anyone have a recipe that works and tastes good? Mine kept coming out burnt no matter how low I put the heat and I’m pretty sure they were still raw in the center when I bit into them. I have had little success working with coconut flour in general. If someone can point me in the right direction, I will be forever grateful!

5. I’m taking part in the 28-Day Blog Challenge. The idea behind the challenge is to spend some time reworking and rethinking our blogs, social media outlets and communities. This morning I did some blog housekeeping and added a race recaps page under the Work It Out tab. I am also working on fixing up my recipe pages and adding a few more things, here and there. Stay tuned for more updates on the challenge.

race recap

I think it’s time to get dressed! Have a great weekend!
